Joy Jar Challenge.

Small assignments. Plenty of freedom.
And a welcome reminder that I still I really love making things.

I usually work on websites, systems, automation, and AI. I enjoy figuring out how everything works together. But this challenge gave me a reason to open Canva and just create something—without a client briefing. A small assignment, a few choices, and room to play.

My entry in Jessa B.'s Joy Jar Challenge. The designs and layouts are my own, created using the provided clip art and based on the challenge prompts.

Small projects. Made by me.

Wildflower Meadow – Grow at your own pace

In this design

A bookmark featuring poppies, a blue butterfly, and a reminder that I can use myself: it’s okay to grow at your own pace. Soft colors, a calm layout, and just having fun in Canva.

Little Joys – A loyalty card for little moments of happiness

In this design

A fictional little café that I’d love to walk into myself. For Little Joys, I designed a loyalty card featuring soft colors, elegant lettering, and lots of tasty treats. A little card that makes coming back feel like a cozy treat.

Letters From Somewhere

In this design

Old letters, faded stamps, and a key—you wonder which door it fits. I combined them into a nostalgic collage in soft vintage colors. Just the kind of thing you find in the attic but still want to keep for a while.

Design and composition: Ann Boen · Diggiehippie®. Created using clip art provided by Jessa B. as part of the Joy Jar Challenge.

Design featuring the text ‘Wish you were here — greetings from the seaside,’ a red-and-white lighthouse, a flying seagull, blue waves, and seashells.

Tiny Garden Friends

In this design

A mouse with a strawberry, a rabbit with a carrot, and a turtle with a flower on her shell. These little garden creatures are featured together on a sticker sheet. Soft colors, a touch of green here and there, and above all: absolutely adorable.

Strawberry Layer Cake

In this design

A recipe card that makes you hungry even before you turn on the oven. Strawberries, a pink food processor, and a wavy border make for a cheerful design. The best part? Figuring out how to fit all the ingredients and steps neatly among all those delicious treats.

Wish You Were Here

In this design

A little vacation vibe in the midst of the daily grind. Using a lighthouse, seashells, and waves, I created a design reminiscent of an old-fashioned vacation postcard. In the mockup, it ended up on a mug: a little trip to the seaside while enjoying a cup of coffee.

Little Things Are Magic

In this design

A little mushroom house, a fox, and a squirrel: that’s all I needed to lose myself in an enchanted forest for a moment. Warm fall colors and tiny stars make this a poster that reminds us of how much beauty there is in the little things.

My Cozy Reading Year

In this design

Keeping track of a year of reading can be fun, too. This reading poster has space for 24 books, with an armchair, a sleeping cat, and a cup of tea at the bottom. That way, every book you finish becomes a little moment to check off. Just one more chapter, then?

Botanical Notes

In this design

Cuttings in glass tubes, soft shades of green, and gift tags just because. I brought them together in a botanical collage with a touch of pink and terracotta. A design centered on small gestures: giving a little plant, adding a note, and making someone happy.

Design and composition: Ann Boen · Diggiehippie®. Created using clip art provided by Jessa B. as part of the Joy Jar Challenge.

Enlarged view

Let's take a break. A bigger question.

Can AI pull it off? Probably. Should AI do everything? Absolutely not.

“Can AI do this for me?” and “Do I want to leave this to AI?” are two different questions.

I use AI every day—for websites, systems, automations, and everything in between. I consciously decide where it’s helpful and which decisions I want to make myself. With these designs, the fun lies precisely in that process of choosing, tweaking, and experimenting.

I wasn't expecting that for a moment

Apparently, I had
Missed this.

Choose a font. Shift it by about two pixels. Change your mind. Try an idea that doesn't work after all. And then try another one, until it suddenly clicks.

I had missed that joy of making my own choices. Simply because I enjoy doing it.

Technology can take over the boring work. That leaves more time for the fun work.
